The surrounding coast is rocky rather than beach lined and is perfect
for diving and swimming. Many local hotels have diving boards and platforms
which visitors can use. Southeast of the town centre you'll find Big Pebble
Beach and Little Pebble Beach.
The peaceful haven of Limanagzi beach can only be reached by boat and
is surrounded by a small olive tree lined cove, while the dramatic beach of
Kaputas, reached by a descent of 192 steps, is only 19 kilometres away to the
west. Further afield, 41 kilometres to the west of Kas, lies the 18 kilometre
World Heritage Patara Beach, Turkey's biggest, which is also the feeding ground
of Caretta-Caretta sea turtles. The area around Patara also abounds in ruins.
